10 Great Natural Hair Products Under $10

I’ve already told you about my favorite hair products and how I save money on hair products, but every time I hear someone talk about how expensive natural hair is, I always want to jump in with my two cents. Now, I’m not saying that it doesn’t cost money to maintain natural hair, I’m just saying that it doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. I do believe that you often have to shell out a little more for high-quality products, and there are definitely some products I’m willing to spend more on because they work so well. But there are also some really great affordable natural hair products that don’t make you choose between quality and cost. I have a lot of hair and I go through products pretty quickly, so my product stash is a mix of more expensive splurges and products that give me more bang for my buck. Whether you’re on a tight budget or you just prefer to save your coins for a rainy day, there are some great products out there that won’t clean out your wallet. Here are 10 great natural hair products under $10.

1)  Eden BodyWorks Coconut Shea Cowash

natural hair product

Eden BodyWorks is one of my favorite brands and the Coconut Shea Cleansing Cowash is my favorite cowash. It’s one of the only cleansing conditioners that makes my hair and scalp feel squeaky clean. It also has pretty good slip, which makes detangling easy. It comes in a 16 oz jar, and you can typically find it for about $9. In fact, almost all Eden BodyWorks products are under $10, depending on where you buy them.

2) Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Tingle Shampoo

There’s a lot to love about Trader Joe’s: they have great snacks, healthy foods at low prices, and the friendliest staff members I’ve ever met. Trader Joe’s also makes a great sulfate-free clarifying shampoo made with quality ingredients like peppermint, tea tree oil, and eucalyptus oil. The downside? You can only find it at Trader Joe’s. The upside? A 16 oz bottle only costs $3.99.

3) Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner

While I do love the Tea Tree Tingle Shampoo, it can leave my hair feeling a little stripped: that’s just the nature of clarifying shampoos. The Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner isn’t the most moisturizing conditioner in my arsenal, but it has a decent amount of slip and it leaves my hair feeling refreshed. I don’t normally use rinse out conditioners to cowash, but I have cowashed a few times with this conditioner and it’s pretty effective as a gentle cleanser in between washes. Price tag: $3.99

4) CURLS Coconut Curlada Conditioner

The CURLS Coconut Curlada Conditioner is a great rinse out conditioner. It’s moisturizing and has great slip. The smell is a little strong, but it’s not overpowering. I actually really like the scent, which is reminiscent of a piña colada. Yum. I get it at Bed Bath & Beyond for $10 ($8 with a 20% off coupon).

5) Maui Moisture Shea Butter Hair Mask

I first heard about Maui Moisture from a friend who’s a fan of their products; shortly after, I started seeing these products in CVS. It’s a relatively new product line and I was curious, so I picked up the Shea Butter Hair Mask. It has a really nice smell, it’s made with quality ingredients, and it can also double as a leave-in. My hair loves aloe vera juice, which is the first ingredient in all Maui Moisture products. I would definitely buy this product again. The price ranges from $8 – $9, depending on where you buy it (I caught it on sale for only $6.99).

6) Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle

This conditioner is super moisturizing and smells amazing! I haven’t used it in a while because I’m trying to avoid products with silicones. However, it has amazing slip and makes my hair feel really soft. I’m thinking about reintroducing my hair to Aussie Moist and incorporating a chelating shampoo into my routine, which would get rid of any silicone build-up. Chelating shampoos are also great if you have hard water. You can find Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle for as low as $3.

7) Giovanni Direct Leave-In Conditioner

I’ve been using the Giovanni Direct Leave-In Conditioner for years. It’s lightweight, moisturizing, and it has a nice, light scent. I can usually find it for about $7 – $8. TJ Maxx also sells 1-liter bottles of Giovanni products for about $12, though the leave-in can be hard to find. If you’re looking for affordable products made from all natural ingredients, I definitely recommend the Giovanni line.

8) Jane Carter Solution Revitalizing Leave-In Conditioner

I love this leave-in conditioner by Jane Carter Solution. I use it on damp, freshly washed hair and as a daily refresher when needed. It’s liquid and lightweight, so I can use it every day without worrying about build-up. This bottle runs me about $8.

9) OGX Moroccan Curling Perfection Defining Cream

I hadn’t used this product in a couple of years, but not because I didn’t like it; it just fell out of my rotation as I tried other products. It happens. But I decided to revisit it a couple months ago and I was not disappointed. It gives my twist outs great definition and hold without making my hair feel stiff. It was a little hard to find at first, and for a little while I was afraid it had been discontinued. But I finally found it at Harmon Face Values. Cost: $5.99

10) CURLS Goddess Curls Gel

This is the first gel that helped me achieve a successful wash and go. I used to see a lot of vloggers on YouTube using Eco Styler gel and getting great results, but I was never able to make it work for me, as much as I loved Eco Styler gel for other styles. Goddess Curls has great hold and a little goes a long way. Price: $8

So there it is: 10 great natural hair products under $10. What are some of your favorite products that give you more bang for your buck?

I definitely need to try the Trader Joe’s line; I’ve heard good things about the tea tree oil shampoo and conditioner. This list is good because it reminds me of products I need to go back and revisit since my hair has been so dry this winter.

I’m glad the list was helpful! I actually started to write a post about my winter hair care routine, but I think I’m going to combine it with another topic for my next post. This cold weather is no joke!
